The First Time...

After two major disasters in my relentless quest for satisfaction, herewith find the results of my experiment.
I have learned a great deal about what not to do, and that I was probably over-ambitious using the 0.5mm fabric tape, even though it was the only solution to my need for resolution.
I will qualify the tape also; I don't think it is actually fabric, but some sort of coated paper weave. It is pretty strong and is/was made by ChartPak. I don't think they manufacture it any more.
LetraSet do something similar.

I have also learned satisfaction is impossible to achieve, and that I have to settle for content.

This project was initially designed to be simply a frame hung like a photograph. I took a photo of what it looks like as designed, shown below . The colour wash and other effects were applied later to enhance the stained glass effect when window mounted. The sparkly effect of the nail polish can be seen when viewed in this mode.

It is not quite finished yet. I may paint the top and bottom rectangles in yellow and blue to complete the frame effect, assuming I can get it back off the window. It is stuck there using double-sided adhesive tape meant for floor tiles, so it may prove difficult to remove.
Eventually though, the adhesive tape will degrade, and I do not want a wash-handbasin full of glass, so it cannot be the final resting place. Also below, shown as it appears when dark outside.

Browsing the internets for CR Mackintosh gifts for sale, it appears that this method could be applied equally well to mirrors. I may try this.
It would be nice to have something pretty to look at when I use the mirror.

Lady Obsession.

A small updatette on my continuing journey into Lady obsession. A few extra additions which I thought were needed. The new left column I may make violet/purple and the triangles blue and turquoise. The quarter circles may be yellow & green. I am considering a lilac wash effect as a background to the whole frame.

Time for a cup of tea.

Opportunity.

Herewith find above the possible window of a possible door.

Let us hope it is a door upon which opportunity knocks.

Lady Update.
Tonight I shall play with the Lady's rose.
I may even fill it in.

Wish me luck!

The State Of Play.

I thought it best to show the frame where I might mount it when finished, onto my bathroom window, as suggested by the great Anne Altman. It's held up by blu-tac, so scary when I had to let go to take the picture.
It is a difficult medium to work on. What looks good in reflected light normally is not when held up to sunlight, and dust is a killer. I had one disaster trying to mix my own paint. Scraping it off was not a lot of fun. This is quite definitely an experiment.

If something acceptable falls out at the end, that will be a bonus.

The Lady.

This Lady materialised into my life exactly 56 minutes after midnight on the 9th of May 2009.
Every moment since then has been devoted to her. She in is my thoughts constantly during the day, and at night in my sleep.
I can feel her.
I have ran my hands down her every curve. Explored her. Stroked her. Held her up to the light and marvelled at her design.
Lest you think I am obsessed, I submit I am obsessed.

Herewith find the proof.

The original graphic above, colour ink jet printed to A4 size, approx 8" x 12".

A vector 0.3mm line plot, framed 8" x 10".

A vector 0.6mm line plot, framed 12" x 16".

The Lady etched in copper, mounted onto a copper board below my kitchen ventilator hood.

Work which is in progress. Anne Altman kindly forwarded me a graphic of the Lady as a leaded glass window. After some searching, I have found this to be the work of Andrea Bertone, who lives near Austin TX. This persuaded me to think of how I can work in leaded glass, but with the high resolution I require.
Meanwhile, as a trial, I am preparing a glass frame that I can paint onto, shown in the pictures below. I have not yet committed paint to it , since I am unsure of how it will turn out.

The Lady outlined with 0.5mm fabric tape, ready for painting with transparent glass paint.
If I am sufficiently pleased, I'll post the results.

Obsession is fuel to the soul.

All homage to Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh who is the designer.

Acceptance Post.

Midleah over at Screaming Shrew very kindly presented me with this award.
'This award is given to the writers of blogs that “are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement." Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.

I have chosen to nominate nine Bloggers who form part of this wonderful community, and have prepared a small graphic for each as is my normal custom.

My first nominee is Midleah of Screaming Shrew.  Thank you for thinking of me.

My second nominee is Megan of When Harry Met Salad, who is truly professional, and excels at all she undertakes.
My third nominee is Teri of Family Tree Junkie, who has lifted my spirits on many occasions.

My fourth nominee is Lynda of Crazy, Nerdy, Beautiful, who started a journey which has taken many twists & turns. I continue to follow her footsteps.

My fifth nominee is B of Life... As I Know It, who has a strange sense of humour, which suits me just fine.
My sixth nominee is Six of how to be human. Six is part of the reason I am here in the Blogosphere.
My seventh nominee is Jenn of Notes from A Broad. Jenn has an old soul and a patio.
My eighth nominee is Bubbles of bubbles' new blog. Bubbles is open, honest and trustworthy. Bluebeak likes her a lot.

My ninth nominee is Julia of A Piece Of My Mind. Julia is also supremely professional and excels at all she undertakes. I like Julia a lot.

I have tried to make the backgrounds compatible with the relevant templates. Clicking upon the graphics should enable the original resolution. As always, if any changes are required to colour, size etc, I am at your disposal. Thank you all for the entertainment!

Flornographic.

I prepared this as part of an upcoming series in response to Midleah's award.
I guess I was thinking of something else at the time, or it might have been the way I was sitting. I might still use it.

Keep your eyes peeled!
